Date difference

Compare a From date and a To date to see the time between them. View total days and the equivalent weeks, months or years with remaining days.

Type dates or choose them from the calendar. Results update automatically.

How differences are calculated

Results show elapsed calendar time, without counting both endpoints inclusively. Identical dates are zero days apart. Dates can be entered in either order; the difference is always shown as a positive duration.

Weeks are seven days. Months and years use the largest whole calendar interval that fits between the earlier and later date, followed by the remaining days. Each row is a separate representation of the same interval.

Month and year anniversaries clamp to the last valid day when needed: January 31 to February 28 in a non-leap year is one month and zero days. February 29 to February 28 of the following year is one year. These conventions may differ from other calculators.

Example: compare dates two weeks apart

From January 1 to January 15 is a difference of 14 days, or two weeks. Month and year results use calendar calculations because months and years do not all contain the same number of days.
